A Please Touch Museum Wedding – Leeanne and Travis

3please-touch-museum-wedding-photos_01

On Saturday we shot our final wedding of the 2015 wedding season and it was a pleasure to wrap this season up with Leanne and Travis’s magical Please Touch Museum Wedding. Leanne and Travis chose The Please Touch Museum because she loved the combination of castle level architecture and child-themed fun that the Museum offers. And we certainly captured every aspect of the museum, from the flying buttresses to the Clifford The Big Red Dog exhibit. Leanne and Travis were up for anything and we captured some great moments.

On a personal note, Saturday happened to my wife Rose’s birthday. Leeanne and Travis somehow managed to remember this from our meeting many months ago and surprised me by handing me a birthday card for Rose at the end of the night. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture and I have no idea how they managed to even think of it amidst the craziness of wedding planning but Rose and I were both really grateful. Finally, I wanted to offer a special thank you to Brooke Beierle of The Yellow Rose who did a masterful job of planning and making sure things went smoothly on Saturday.

Congratulations to Leeanne and Travis! Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to wish them well in the comments below!

A Please Touch Museum Wedding in Philadelphia: Anna & Jeff

1please_museum_wedding_01

This past weekend we shot Anna and Jeff’s Please Touch Museum Wedding in Philadelphia. Our second trip to the museum in just a few weeks was fantastic. The couple both got ready at the Sofitel Hotel downtown and because it was raining, we decided to make a last-minute stop at an unusual location: the original Penn Medicine hospital that features the nation’s oldest surgical amphitheater built in 1804. The historical hospital has a special significance to the couple because Jeff is a surgeon at Upenn and Anna has her doctorate in art history. It was a unique portrait location to be sure, and afterwards as I read a bit about the early surgical practices performed here, one line stood out to me: “until about 1840, operations were performed without the benefit of anesthesia; patients were given a choice of opium, liquor or a knock on the head with a mallet to render them unconscious.” I found it fascinating that there were apparently folks that chose to be put out for their surgery by a Looney Tunes-esque blow to the head. Anyways, even though some might not consider a surgical room to be the most romantic stop , I loved that we made a trip to a location that was special to Anna and Jeff and completely unique. Afterwards, we headed over to The Please Touch Museum for their ceremony and reception which as you might expect from Please Touch was a perfect combination of elegance and fun.

Enjoy the images and don’t forget to congratulate Anna and Jeff in the comments below!

A Please Touch Museum Wedding in Philadelphia: Karen & Frank

5

On Saturday, we shot Karen and Frank’s beautiful Please Touch Museum wedding in Philadelphia. Karen and Frank both live in San Diego but decided to have their wedding in Philadelphia where Karen is originally from. The couple got ready at The Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District, just a few blocks away from St. Augustine church. Following a beautiful ceremony at St. Augustine, we headed across town to the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park. During cocktail hour, Karen, Frank and I snuck off to capture some enchanting photos in a few of the exhibits. Karen and Frank shared a few drinks with the Mad Hatter and got stuck in a room that was very, very poorly designed but still managed to join their guests in the carousel house for cocktail hour. The carousel house is so named for the beautiful carousel that guests are encouraged to take a spin on in between cocktails. Note: I absolutely don’t recommend jumping off the carousel while in motion, especially if you are holding a camera-It is going faster than you think. Congratulations to Karen and Frank. Enjoy the images and don’t forget to wish them well in the comments below!

Brûlée Catering prepared the delicious meals for the evening. Much thanks to Sarah Wright for her excellent stewardship of the evening. Penny’s Flowers was the florist for the day and Evan’s Entertainment was the DJ. Hair/Makeup was provided by Elizabeth Jacobs.
