An Appleford Estate Wedding – Michele and Ross

Michele and Ross are an awesome couple: sweet, kind, funny and I’m not sure I’ve ever met a couple more excited on their wedding day. They clearly couldn’t have been happier to be getting married to each other. Michele and Ross’s Appleford Estate Wedding was excellent. Michele and Ross have known each other for years but their origin story is unique. In 2004 they worked together at a theatre in Malvern. They each went their separate ways. Twelve years later, they visited a zoo. At that zoo, they both, separately, took a selfie with a giraffe, as we are all want to do from time-to-time.  Ross put that giraffe photo on Facebook. Michele happened upon the photo, decided to comment, and the rest is history. Their circuitous, giraffe-lined route was meant to be.  It was an honor to be there on this day that was 14 years in the making and a pleasure to photograph their amazing wedding.

Congratulations Michele and Ross! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish them well in the comments below!

A Sayen Gardens Wedding – Corinne and Chris

So, I shoot a lot of weddings and Corinne and Chris’s Sayen Gardens wedding was absolutely one of the most one-of-a-kind affairs I’ve ever had the pleasure of capturing. When I arrived at Hairports where Corinne and bridesmaids were getting their hair and makeup done, they immediately set me up with a trove of interesting details to shoot that merely hinted at the neat traditions and interesting takes Corrine and Chris would show off on their wedding day. Among those details, were two sets of shoes, white boots for the ceremony and a pair of light-up sneakers in neon colors that could most accurately be described as “rad”. The women donned saris and the bouquets were an artful synthesis of asian fans and flowers. For the first look, Chris wore a purple unicorn-themed blindfold (No explanation needed). During the nuptials, instead of a more traditional sand ceremony or a candle-lighting, Chris and Corinne prepared Tabouli as a nod to Chris’s Syrian heritage. Immediately following, Corinne and Chris retrieved a bottle of bourbon from where they had buried it a few days prior in order to ward off any bad weather. The table centerpieces and decorations inside the Sayen House reception were all mementos from their visits to National Parks, a passion that Corinne and Chris told me in our very first meeting. Its an interest I share with them and it played no small role in why I was excited about them as a couple and their wedding. They polished their perfect day off with a packed dance floor and some incredibly tasty cupcakes created by Danielle’s cake-tastic creations. It was a  truly unique wedding and I was also happy I got to be there to capture it.

Congratulations Corrine and Chris! Enjoy the Photos!

A Manor House at Prophecy Creek Wedding – Lindsay and Spencer

Lindsay and Spencer’s Manor House at Prophecy Creek wedding was fantastic. The whole day, from start to finish, was meticulously planned and beautifully executed. We kicked off the morning, capturing getting ready photos. The women spent the morning at Lindsay’s parents’ beautiful home in Doylestown where, after getting their hair and makeup done, Lindsay and her bridesmaids took some valuable time to relax outside on the patio with champagne. Once refreshed and relaxed, they donned their dresses, made some final adjustments, had a first look with Lindsay’s father, and boarded the trolley to head to the church. Spencer was, true-to- form, smiling from the moment I saw him. That smile was a permanent fixture throughout the day. After the moving ceremony at Doylestown Presybterian, they exited to a line of guests throwing rose petals. We hopped on the trolley again where the corks and bottle caps were discarded with reckless abandon and the bridal party got an early start on the revelry of the reception. The Manor House at Prophecy Creek is a gorgeous venue and on Saturday it was breath-taking. With the perfect weather and the stunning work by Doylestown’s Floribunda, the venue looked as beautiful as I’ve ever seen it. After portraits on the grounds, cocktails at dusk, and a delicious meal served up by Robert Fair, The Untouchables opened the dance floor and put on one of the best performances I’ve seen from a wedding band. It was my first time working with them, and they did an excellent job, as clearly evidenced by the many, many, many photos of guests on the dance floor. The whole day was incredible and I know how much work Lindsay and her mother Nancy put into planning it.

Congratulations to Lindsay and Spencer!! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish them well in the comments below!

A Bryn Athyn Cathedral Wedding – Hannah and Joe

I knew during our very first phone call that Hannah and Joe’s Bryn Athyn Cathedral wedding was going to be incredible. Not only is the Bryn Athyn Cathedral itself gorgeous, but the reception venue, The Lord’s New Church, is replete with the same beautiful stone architecture and nestled in the same serene landscape that makes all of Bryn Athyn so perfect for a wedding. Moreover, Hannah and Joe are unbelievably nice and truly genuine people. Those emotions really shine through in the pictures and it was clear that the guests felt incredibly close to the bride and groom. Hannah and Joe’s wedding had every single emotional moment that makes photographing weddings so rewarding.  We started off the day at Blue Salon where Hannah and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done. We then headed over the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. It’s really a stunning church both inside and out. At the Cathedral, Hannah and Joe shared one of the most amazing first looks I’ve ever captured. There were tears (and laughter) all around as they exchanged gifts with each other. The ceremony that followed was solemn and beautiful and afterwards we headed to the cocktail hour and reception at the Lord’s New Church. It was a night filled with great speeches, non-stop dancing, a few photos at sunset in the meadow, and a French fry bar (which is of course, the best kind of bar there is =))

Congratulations to Hannah and Joe! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish them well in the comments below.

A Cape May Wedding – Kayla and Brian

1
Cape May is a unique town and last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Kayla and Brian’s intimate Cape May Wedding. I first worked with Kayla and Brian a few months ago when we shot their engagement session in New Hope. During that shoot, Kayla, originally from Texas, introduced the word “wassel” into my vocabulary and though I still hold some skepticism that it’s a thing, I feel confident after revisiting the topic last weekend, that she wouldn’t intentionally mislead me. Kayla and Brian are fantastic to photograph and just great people to be around. Kind, funny, and down-to-earth. They kept their wedding intentionally small and got to spend the day with their closest friends and family. The March weather at the Jersey shore can be unpredictable and though it was a bit chilly, we managed to get outside the Southern Mansion to capture a fantastic first look and some great pictures of a very happy couple. Were it Christmas time, I’m sure we would have been treated to a good wassel. The ceremony took place in the inside and then all guests were treated to some excellent acoustic music during cocktails and reception dj-ing by the incomparable Pat and Sean Kelly

Congratulations to Kayla and Brian! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish the couple well in the comments below.
