A Cape May Wedding – Kayla and Brian

1
Cape May is a unique town and last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Kayla and Brian’s intimate Cape May Wedding. I first worked with Kayla and Brian a few months ago when we shot their engagement session in New Hope. During that shoot, Kayla, originally from Texas, introduced the word “wassel” into my vocabulary and though I still hold some skepticism that it’s a thing, I feel confident after revisiting the topic last weekend, that she wouldn’t intentionally mislead me. Kayla and Brian are fantastic to photograph and just great people to be around. Kind, funny, and down-to-earth. They kept their wedding intentionally small and got to spend the day with their closest friends and family. The March weather at the Jersey shore can be unpredictable and though it was a bit chilly, we managed to get outside the Southern Mansion to capture a fantastic first look and some great pictures of a very happy couple. Were it Christmas time, I’m sure we would have been treated to a good wassel. The ceremony took place in the inside and then all guests were treated to some excellent acoustic music during cocktails and reception dj-ing by the incomparable Pat and Sean Kelly

Congratulations to Kayla and Brian! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish the couple well in the comments below.

A Cescaphe Vie Wedding – Anu and Edwin

4

When we had out initial planning call many months ago, we were imagining a cold day and maybe even some snow. Anu and Edwin’s Cescaphe Vie wedding surprised us though with balmy 50 degree temperatures and rain. It turns out, the weather wasn’t the only surprise on what was a really unique (and a very Philly) wedding day. Anu and Edwin are an awesome couple. They managed to infuse their wedding day with their creativity and an amazing sense of humor. Despite the wet conditions they were determined to get outside. We coordinated a First Look with the entire bridal party in Logan Circle and captured portraits of everyone at the Art Museum before heading to The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul for a beautiful ceremony. Anu and Edwin clearly spent a lot of time thinking about how they wanted their wedding to go and especially at the reception, they scripted lots of moments that were unique to them and their relationship. Before they came out to formally greet their guests at Cescaphe Vie there was a hilarious introduction video which showed them working through a few “rejected” reception ideas. Then, they entered the party, donned in inflatable elephants and Edwin wore Jason Kelce’s genie get-up from the Eagles recent Super Bowl parade. And to be clear, I don’t mean he wore a similar genie outfit, he wore the exact genie outfit that Jason Kelce wore. They then launched into a fantastically choreographed and flawlessly performed dance routine which I gather took weeks of preparation. There was also a few performances that Edwin surprised Anu with. First, Edwin had a Dohl drummer join a violinist in an awesome duet that was really unique. Then, Michael Jackson took the dance floor to perform a medley of some of his best routines. It was an awesome night and we were so happy we could be there to capture it.

Congratulations to Anu and Edwin! Enjoy this sneak peek and be sure to wish the couple well in the comments!

A Huntingdon Valley Engagement – Hannah and Joe

1

Every year, the winding down of our wedding season seems to dovetail perfectly with an uptick in engagement sessions; with couples who really want to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and perfect light this time of year has to offer. Hannah and Joe’s Huntingdon Valley Engagement session was one of these sessions and it was fantastic. On my first call with Hannah a few months ago, it was immediately clear how enthusiastic she was about photography and moreover finding the right photographer for her and her fiancé Joe. It’s something I emphasize a lot with my clients. Finding the right photographer is both about finding someone whose work you love, but also it’s about making sure you’re a good fit for each other personality-wise. Hannah’s excitement was infectious and I was really happy you get to work with her and Joe. Hannah and Joe are getting married at a property called The Lords’ New Church just outside Philadelphia and that’s where we met for their engagement session to capture some great shots in the beautiful fall afternoon sunlight. The castle-like venue and the sprawling, natural property are practically hidden. You wouldn’t know it was there if you weren’t looking for it. After we’d explored for a bit and took some shots there, we headed over to the nearby Pennypack Ecological Trust which is a public park and bird sanctuary and made some striking images of Hannah and Joe as the sun set over a golden field. It was a great afternoon with an awesome couple and I’m super-excited to shoot their wedding in 2018.

Congrats to Hannah and Joe! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish the couple well in the comments below!

A Lambertville Station Inn Wedding – Jenna and Kenny

1

This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Jenna and Kenny’s awesome Lambertville Station Inn Wedding.  I’ve known Jenna and her family for years so this one was extra special for me. Jenna and Kenny have been together for a long time and their wedding was predictably perfect. It was one of those days where everything just…flowed. Jenna and Kenny were both relaxed, happy, and so excited. On top of that, the weather couldn’t have been better. From the second they saw each other during the first look, Jenna and Kenny were all smiles and they looked amazing in that beautiful light you only get this time of year. We captured great shots of the couple on the canal and then took the bridal party to the Lambertville/New Hope Bridge. The Ketubah signing and ceremony were both personal and moving and the reception was simply fantastic: Excellent speeches and the band kept the dance floor packed throughout the evening. And, just when you thought the night couldn’t get any better, the Phillie Phanatic busted through the doors to surprise the guests, show off some patented dance moves, and (briefly) steal the show. It was a great day from start to finish and I’m so happy we got to be there.

Congratulations Jenna and Kenny!! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish the couple well in the comments below!

A Desmond Hotel Wedding – Talene and Joe

Armenian wedding reception photos of bride and groom on family shoulders. Photo by Philadelphia Wedding photographers Weldon Wedding Photography.

I’m just going to say it: I love Armenian Weddings. Talene and Joe’s Desmond Hotel Wedding was the second Armenian wedding I’ve shot and I’m just a huge fan. From a photography perspective, the Armenian ceremony presents a unique set of challenges because 95% of the ceremony is performed with the bride and groom’s back to the church but if you are familiar with how it goes, you can find the moments where you can capture their expressions. Talene and Joe are a fantastic couple.: Joe a doctor and Talene a lawyer are both successful and kind and were just great to be around. We shot the portraits at Valley Forge Park . They took the time to find their favorite spots beforehand and even though we were racing against the waning fall light, we captured some great portraits of this happy couple at a few spots I hadn’t shot before. Afterwards, we headed to the Desmond Hotel for what is my favorite part of the Armenian wedding: the dancing. So. Much. Dancing. Every single guest was on the floor for the entire night with the exception of Talene and Joe, who spent some of that time in the air, being hoisted above the dancing crowd by their family. It was a great day and we were honored to be a part of it!

Congratulations to Talene and Joe! Enjoy the photos and be sure to wish the happy couple well in the comments below.
